How is Fibromyalgia Treated?

There is no agreed upon standard, proven "treatment" for fibromyalgia. Rather, there is a collection of various approaches that address different symptoms, each approach having varying levels of success with each fibromyalgia patient.

Drug-based treatments include pain medications, antidepressants, muscle relaxants and tranquilizers, among others, including cutting edge treatments such as botulinum toxin type A   -- known as Botox.

Alternative, non-drug approaches include exercise, cranial electrotherapy stimulation,

acupuncture, dietary changes, and vitamin and herbal supplements, among others

A complete look at the full range of conventional, alternative, mind-body, nutritional, vitamin and herbal treatments are presented in Living Well With Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia, along with guidelines on how best to develop an integrated plan for your own recovery and wellness.
